Rise & Shine

“Rise & Shine” is a digital 2D animation based on my personal experience with hyper-realistic dreams. When I created this piece I was frequently experiencing dreams in which it appeared that I had woken up and started my day, until the illusion was broken by a distinct disruption of reality. Through this piece I aimed to visualize this experience and convey the unsettled headspace it put me in. The piece was created using a combination of Photoshop and Premiere Pro. A technique of drawing with digital oil paint brushes on one layer in Photoshop–mimicking the process of hand painted animation–was used to capture the vague and murky sensorial experience of dreaming.
