The Exchange

“The Exchange” was created as an unconventional editing exercise for my Intro to Video course at the Stamps School of Art & Design. A large folder of footage capturing two students exchanging an envelope was supplied by the course instructor, Professor Cynthia Pachikara, and I was tasked to create a unique piece using unconventional editing techniques. This video aims to capture the whimsical and disorienting sensorial experience of dreaming. The footage was edited to be over scaled, over exposed, over saturated, and layered to create an overwhelming and disorienting viewing experience. While editing, I was graphically driven by the subtle shifts in color (from yellow to pink) within the footage, and used color grading to highlight this color exchange.
