Bedroom Color Studies
This project explores how different color schemes can affect the way a single space is experienced through a pair of two contrasting digital self portraits. While both images depict myself sitting in my bedroom, the varying color schemes and additional surreal imagery create different moods for each composition. Due to the medical conditions of those I live with, I have not been able to leave my house since March of 2020. Through this project, I reflected on the increased awareness I developed during this prolonged period of confinement of how drastically different one space can be experienced due to varying emotional influences. The images depict two contrasting yet equally recurring emotions I experienced during the past year: calmness and anxiety. The images make use of differing color schemes, proportions of color, and supplementary imagery to further distinguish their emotional effects. This project was completed using digital gouache brushes on Adobe Photoshop.
